Community involvement

Just like brick and mortar come together to form a solid wall, we believe that combining our efforts is the key to building stronger communities.

Our major campaigns

Children's Miracle Network and Opération Enfant Soleil

Lowe's Canada is proud to be a major partner of Children's Miracle Network and Opération Enfant Soleil since 2018. With this association, we contribute to the essential work of these organizations that provide meaningful assistance to sick children and their families in Canada by supporting 14 children's hospitals across the country. Our fourth annual campaign took place in-store from March 29 to May 2, 2021, and was extended to May 16 in Ontario and online.

Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau

Since 2018, we have been supporting the Charles-Bruneau Foundation as a Diamond Partner of the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau. Thanks to the generosity of our RONA and Reno-Depot customers and the involvement of the cyclists part of the Lowe's Canada team, we presented the Charles-Bruneau Foundation with a total of $2,525,000 to support pediatric cancer research, making a difference in the lives of thousands of children.

Lowe's Canada Foundation

The Lowe’s Canada Foundation raises funds to help improve the overall quality of life of children and their families—especially those dealing with sickness, poverty, or special needs.  Thanks to our vendors’ generosity during our virtual charity event on November 4, 2021, we were able to present a cheque of $360,000 to Opération Enfant Soleil and Children’s Miracle Network.

Our local campaigns

Lowe's Canada Heroes

The Lowe's Canada Heroes campaign gives associates from our network the opportunity to get involved in their communities by supporting a local non-profit organization or public school of their choosing. Throughout September, associates raise money in stores to help these organizations fulfil their mission or carry out a specific project. At the end of the campaign, Lowe's Canada matches 50% of customer donations, up to $2,000 per store.

In 2019, Lowe’s Canada received a Philanthropic Leadership award at the Retail Council of Canada’s Excellence in Retailing Awards Gala for its Lowe’s Canada Heroes program, which helps transform neighbourhoods into communities.

An engaged head office

As a leading employer on the South Shore of Montreal, we find it important to get involved locally and contribute to the development of the communities where a significant number of our head office employees and their families live and work. To this end, we support various local organizations through volunteer activities, donations, and sponsorships.

The magic of the Holidays at Lowe's

Since 2010, our Lowe's stores across the country have helped spread Holiday cheer to thousands of children by participating in the Salvation Army's toy drive. From mid-November to mid-December, our stores collect new toys generously donated by customers and employees. Mountains of toys are then given to the Salvation Army and distributed to underprivileged families to help brighten their Holidays.

In 2019, for the first time, 35 RONA stores joined forces with Lowe's stores in Canada as part of this initiative, allowing us to collect a record of 8,680 toys.

Habitat for Humanity

We are proud to help provide safe and affordable housing to many Canadian families through our involvement with Habitat for Humanity Canada. Since 2007, we have donated a total of over $2 million in material donations to this life-changing organization. Additionally, every year, several of our employees generously give their time as volunteers on various Habitat for Humanity building sites, including during International Women Build Week. This event leading to International Women’s Day, in March, brings together women from our network who contribute to building a safe and affordable home for a low-income family. An inspiring way to celebrate International Women’s Day and highlight the contribution of women in our society and our organization!
